Position Purpose:
This position will continue to build the foundation for Stericycle's North American Accounting Team made up of functional Centers of Excellence (COEs) across both the US and Canada.
Reporting to the Director Accounting, this key leadership position will help develop, strategize, and implement the shared services vision for the revenue accounting function.
The Manager of this team will be responsible for coordinating the timely and accurate execution of Stericycle's financial close including significant areas impacting our North American business units including but not limited to revenue accounting and controls, bad debt reserves, and credit memo reserves.
Critical analysis of the results and understanding of the business will also play a significant factor in the ongoing transformation of these areas.
Further, this individual will also play a key role in the company's transformation with involvement in our implementation of SAP S/4HANA for the Regulated Waste and Compliance Services (RWCS) business.
The position will also help guide us through general compliance with US GAAP, flawless execution of the company's internal controls, and assistance in maintaining the company's accounting policies and related procedural documents.
We are seeking an individual who is a self-starter, can prioritize multiple deliverables, initiate solutions, and who can be a strong leader and team player capable of achieving the goals of the Accounting function.
This is a growth opportunity role with the ability to interact with senior level management across accounting, finance and the rest of the business.
The Manager Revenue Accounting will have the opportunity to develop strong business partnerships across finance and throughout the company as well as challenging the status quo with current processes.
Areas of focus / emphasis may include:
Guiding the COE through our continued transformation by leading process improvements and system improvements.
Part of this transformation will be in further developing the group's understanding of the business and use of analytics.
This will be beneficial not only in our financial close but within our continued collaboration with other groups throughout Accounting and Finance including our Order-to-Cash team and Business Unit Financial Planning team.
Executing and driving the company's overall control structure related to revenue accounting with significant partnership with Technical Accounting, SOX PMO, and Order-to-Cash teams.
Coordinating accounting and controls work and related deliverables with internal/external audit and the internal controls group.
Reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations in significant areas across several North American legal entities.
Ensuring that reconciling items are identified and resolved on a timely basis.
Coaching, developing and acting as a mentor for staff within the group and on the entire North American Accounting Team to build a world-class accounting function with strong talent and growth opportunities for all.
Key Job Activities:
Monitors that there is adequately designed and effectively operating controls related to the financial close process.
Identifies and remediates internal control deficiencies in the areas/processes assigned.
Ensures the adherence with all applicable US GAAP guidance and internal company accounting policies and related controls and procedures.
Develops fellow team members including technical skills and soft skills needed to progress through the organization.
Advocates for each team member such that they progress their careers within Stericycle.
Manages the team's performance as needed utilizing performance differentiation techniques.
Prepares performance evaluations and conducts annual reviews.
Assists in the design and implementation of financial information systems; seeks ways to improve financial reporting and controls particularly within new ERP and general ledger (SAP S/4HANA).
Manage cross-functional ad hoc integration projects as needed.
Support other departments and organizations with analysis and information particularly with respect to our Monthly Management Review meetings.
Prepare and present variance analyses and business insights in these meetings and throughout month on ad hoc basis and as part of our overall continuous close process.
Oversees the day-to-day coordination of processing transactional financial data including the preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Ensures that all information provided by the entity (IPE) has adequate basis of source data, parameters and report logic controls and that those controls are effectively operating.
Tracks the status of open reconciling items and ensures that the team follows up on such items in an engaging and collaborative manner with cross-functional involvement making sure that they are resolved in the time prescribed by our policies.
Utilizes existing tools and systems as well as explores potential enhancements or new systems as needed and as applicable to business conditions.
Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 8
years experience with Accounting leadership roles Experience in effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills capable of interacting with staff, peers, and senior leadership competently and effectively Experience working with offshore Shared Services resources Strong business acumen and analytical skills Certified Public Accountant designation in US Highly desirable:
Working knowledge of continuous improvement philosophies (Lean/Six Sigma) in a practical work setting Prior experience designing IPE controls and MRC (Management Review Control) activities Prior SAP S/4HANA experience particularly within areas of Revenue Accounting Prior experience mining large amounts of data At least 3 years of public accounting experience demonstrating a good understanding of GAAP, audit processes (internal / external), month-end closing processes, general ledger accounts, and financial statement formats Mid to Large public company experience (preferable)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
