Summary:
The Manager, Project Engineering is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the project engineering group within Engineering & Technical Services.
The Manager, Project Engineering is also responsible for project engineering and project management duties as time allows.
Job Description:
MAJOR
Responsibilities:
Oversees development of innovative and technically sound solutions, project scopes, Approval for Expenditure (AFE) preparation, budget estimates, construction, scheduling, cost control, etc.
for DF terminals and warehouses as directed by the Manager, Engineering &Technical Services.
Facilitates the organized, responsive and efficient handling of routine and large engineering projects as assigned by the Manager, Engineering &Technical Services.
Communicates project status, potential problems, bottlenecks, etc.
with the Manager, E&TS, the Regional Managers, the Superintendents, etc.
as needed.
Provides periodic and formal performance appraisals and day-to-day direction to maximize quantity and quality of work output from the project engineering group.
Coordinates interaction of contract administration group with the project engineering group.
Directs problem-solving, time management and communication efforts of the project engineering group.
Assists Operations in evaluating potential projects, mechanical problems and maintenance programs.
Assists in facility Hazards and Operability Study (HAZOP) reviews and all related safety functions.
Internal ControlsEstablishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements.
Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed.
Works with Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures, the need for new ones, and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed.
Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary.
POSITION
Qualifications:
Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, or equivalentMust have 8 10 years of engineering experience preferably in large-scale engineering/construction project management and at least 1-2 years' supervisory experienceDemonstrated ability to apply engineering concepts, science (thermodynamics, physics, mathematics, chemistry, etc.
), and hands-on experience to everyday operating situations, problems and opportunitiesDemonstrated ability to organize time and office environment to make efficient use of schedules and resources and provide an example for other department membersTechnical expertise to develop and critically review engineered solutions to operating, safety and economic problemsAbility to effectively communicate/interact with all employee levelsAbility to organize/prioritize projects and related tasks and exercise independent judgmentMust be PC literate within a Windows operating system and functional in Microsoft software applicationsPOSITION SCOPE/CONTRIBUTION:
The Manager, Project Engineering is responsible for day-to-day supervision of the twenty or more projects that the project engineering group has on active status, as well as direct project engineering duties for his/her selected projects.
The incumbent in this position is also required to travel to CF facilities, conferences and seminars as needed.
Typical annual time spent traveling is approximately 30%.
Trips are typically domestic and last 1-2 day/ 1night.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
